Unearthed from a series of computer crashes, the paintings in Akwetey John's TRAPWORK exist as digital tableaus mined from screenshots. Moments of the artist's collapsed internet life are "trapped", printed, and post scripted via 8 bit video game, mixed media paintings, and 3D creations. Inviting "a playful chaos to our insatiable taste for the screen" these works encode and "un-ecrypt" the image , releasing the static energy embedded in corrupted pictures.
